It’s Friday morning in Asheville and the city is getting ready to kick off Moogfest. The weekend’s shows, both on- and off-schedule, have started with some early morning SoundLab sets at the Moog factory, and even though it’s raining, the sounds of synths are bright and cheery indoors.

Today’s schedule features some of the weekend’s best talent. Make it to the Animoog Playground early to check out Mayer Hawthorne & the County, who will be bringing his blues-informed funk to Asheville. His touring partner, Chromeo, will be playing a set later in the evening, for those more inclined towards peachy disco. The late night sets are worth staying up for, with TV on the Radio and Flying Lotus playing the after-midnight scene.
