Three music legends grace the stages of Moogfest this weekend

In the fickle world of music, recording contracts, ambiguous sub-genres, and fans' tastes, bands and artists come and go like the seasons. Bands/artists can find themselves on top of the musical world one day, and all but forgotten a few months later. This can happen to one hit wonders, bands with one or two great albums that never again duplicate that success, or those, that despite their stellar talent, can't overcome their personal demons or differences.

The mainstream DJ will perform at Moogfest with a live band

Long-time DJ, performer, and musician Moby is often credited—for better or for worse—with bringing dance and techno music into the mainstream. A classically trained musician who’s performed for decades, Moby started out playing with punk rock bands in high school. Today, thanks to a number of accessible albums over the past decade, his name is practically synonymous with electronic music.

Sound Tribe Sector 9's Murph beats cancer to rejoin the festival circuit

When David Murphy, bass player of Sound Tribe Sector 9 (STS9), announced in January 2011 that he had been diagnosed with cancer, the live music community was shocked, in much the same way the electronic music community was shocked by the news of Bob Moog’s brain cancer years before.
